Exercise without nutrition is just exercise….

My little experiment continues and presents a reality check!!  I have had multiple clients come to me who are unable to lose weight but are working out a ton!  They don’t understand why the weight stays the same or maybe even increases.  Let’s review the idea – 80% nutrition, 20% fitness…

Here is the what happens if we only address the fitness – My first month of running and I really only gave it three good weeks…ramped up the first couple weeks.  I got up to about 40 miles per week – 126 miles total.  (Keep in mind I have never been a runner)  My estimated calorie burn on that was 16,577.  If you do the math – that number of calories burned would be a weight loss of about 4.7 bs.  If you ask me – that is a heck of a lot of work to only lose 4 lbs!  And remember – that is only if I DIDN’T eat more because of the level of work out I was doing…

REALITY CHECK – I tried  to eat normally but I was much hungrier than usual so I noticed an increase  in my calorie consumption….Let’s say I only ate 200 extra calories each day which is not a lot for how hungry I was.  That would change my total weight loss to about 2.7 lbs for the month.  If I told you that you needed to run 30 miles a week in order to lose 2.7 lbs this month – would you ?  I think I would call you BAT SHIT CRAZY to follow this plan!

On the other hand, you could add in good nutrition create a natural calorie deficit, raise your metabolism….AND LOSE MORE WEIGHT.   If you have been having a similar problem..It’s probably time for you to contact me.  Running might be kind of cool lol…But it’s not THAT cool!  If you ‘re going to do all of that exercise  – you might as well get some phenomenal results!
