Coach Janae Naber

Janae joined RightFitt as a client first, and then became a coach in 2012.  A former gymnast, she was unable to maintain her fitness as an adult, and struggled with her weight for many years.  RightFitt helped her learn how to eat properly, work out effectively, and inspired her to help change other people’s lives by becoming a coach.

In addition to working with personal clients, Janae also loves teaching new coaches how to help others reach their goals.

Weight Loss Journey
 Gymnastics, dance, and a great metabolism helped keep me in tip top shape during high school.  I would like to state though, that people have a strange view on what fit people weigh.  People have this idea that a thin woman weighs about 120 lbs, and that just isn’t reality.  When I graduated from high school, I was thin, muscular, 5’8” tall, and weighed 153 lbs.

After high school I moved out on my own, started doing my own grocery shopping, and ate terribly.  I promptly gained 30 lbs.  I followed that up with many rounds of gain 5-10 lbs, lose a few lbs.  When I got married in 2000, I weighed around 190 lbs.

source site I lost quite a bit of weight, and in 2002 I got pregnant for the first time.  Went straight into the mindset of “eating for two” and gained about 20 lbs before having a miscarriage at 15 weeks in early 2003.  A couple months later I got pregnant with my son Jack.  I started that pregnancy at 195 lbs, and then gained 65 lbs.  You do the math…I don’t want to see that weight in writing!

I somehow managed to lose the 65 lbs of pregnancy weight in 12 weeks, but then was stuck back at 195 for quite awhile.  I would work out like crazy, but never saw much change.  I now know that I was doing pretty much everything wrong nutritionally, so no matter how much cardio I did, I wasn’t ever going to change very much.  I managed to get down to 183 for my 10 year high school reunion, but had very little muscle tone at that point.  I look back at pictures and feel so awful about them.  I wish so much that I had someone then who had been able to teach me the right way to eat and work out.

From 2005-2008 I went through a roller coaster of physical and emotional ups and downs.  We very badly wanted to have another baby, but my body wouldn’t cooperate.  In three years I got pregnant four times, and miscarried four times.  To say that I had little control over my body would be an understatement.  Physically and emotionally I was a total mess and my fluctuations in weight reflected that.  Late in 2007 I started trying to be very aware of what I was eating, and tried to work out as much as possible.  I got pregnant with my daughter Ruby in March of 2008 at my lowest weight in years…180.  I then gained 50 lbs before delivering her!  Losing weight after having her wasn’t as easy as it was after having Jack.  It took me 8 solid months to even be able to get back to my pre pregnancy weight.  I was working so hard, but was doing everything wrong as far as nutrition and fitness went, and I had no idea.

I now weigh 155 lbs.  To be able to say that I weigh 40 lbs less now than I did when I got pregnant with my first baby over 9 years ago feels pretty amazing.  I am so thankful that RightFitt  helped me learn how to be the person I always wanted to be, but just didn’t know how.  I had a hard time finding pictures of myself over the last 15 years because I never wanted to be in a picture.  I didn’t own a swim suit for 10 years, but now I feel confident in a bikini…stretch marks and all.  I don’t feel like I have to shy away from the camera or hide behind people when pictures are being taken.  Learning how to eat right and work out properly has made all the difference in how I feel and look.

Coaching Journey
As a former gymnastics coach, I have always loved teaching others.  After being a RightFitt client for nine months and getting my own personal results, I knew that helping others reach their goals was what I was meant to do.  I jumped into coaching head first, started working with clients individually, and also running weight loss challenges.  Watching others learn to believe in themselves, seeing their success, and feeling their victories with them has been incredibly fulfilling.   I’ve also been able to continue working towards my own personal goals right alongside my clients as a ProjectMe coach.  What more could I ask for in a job?  I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot.
